Although towns exist in the Northern Territories most non-nomadic people in the region live in Whitehorse, in the Yukon Territory, Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories and Iqaluit in Nunavut.
The largest of these cities is Whitehorse which had a population of
23,276 in 2011. Despite being the territorial capital of Nunavut, the Municipality
of Iqaluit has a population of less than ten thousand.
